History & Style
Milder in alcohol than a dubbel or tripel, Patersbier (“Father’s beer”) was traditionally brewed by monks to enjoy within the walls of their abbey, while they worked away at brewing their famous strong ales.
Pours a slightly hazy blond with dense, rocky white foam. Sweet honeyed malt with floral overtones dominate the aroma. The flavour features initial malt sweetness. Peppery notes from the yeast lend complexity while hop bitterness provides balance. The finish is bright, clean and crisp.
Hot & sour soup with chicken and tofu; chicken braised with Patersbier, grain mustard & herbs with spaetzle; Nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice); bloomy rind brie-style cheeses.
