Killer Kvass

Killer Kvass was conceived and brewed collaboratively with Half Pints Brewing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Killer Kvass is tenth in a series of beers Beau’s will brew with friends across the nation to honour Ottawa 2017, a year-long celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. A portion of proceeds from sales will go to D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre (www.darcysarc.ca).


History & Style:

Killer Kvass is inspired by traditional kvass, a fermented beverage made from dried rye bread and flavoured with fruits, raisins or herbs. Kvass has been an Eastern European staple for hundreds of years, and is typically made to be highly refreshing and low in alcohol. Killer Kvass was brewed using 70 kilograms of organic rye bread croutons, organic lemon peel and organic raisins.

Tasting Notes:

Killer Kvass pours hazy light gold with a thin white foam. The aroma has notes of bread and hints of lemon. This light-bodied beer imparts flavour impressions of bread crust, mildly tart lemon and subtle raisin. The finish is brisk and refreshing.


Food Pairings: 

Freshly baked sourdough rye bread, okroshka (a slavic soup), tilsit cheese.
