Three brand-new beers and a returning classic in winter edition of The Beau’s Mix
An ultra-hoppy and intensely citrusy D.I.P.A., a malty and rich Scottish-style wee heavy, and a biscuity and smooth classic E.S.B. join Lug Tread in new seasonal sampler
Beau’s Brewing Co. is announcing the details of The Beau’s Mix winter edition, a sampler of four Beau’s beers that will be sold across much of Canada beginning this November. The sampler contains 4 x 600 ml bottles: three brand-new beers from the independent and innovative Ontario craft brewery, along with Beau’s classic flagship, Lug Tread Lagered Ale.
The new beers in the latest Beau’s Mix are seasonally inspired, and diverse in style. Part of the Farm Table Series of true-to style and sessionable offerings, E.S.B. (Extra-Special Bitter) is a copper-coloured, classic English-style pale ale (5.6 % ABV). The aroma offers both biscuity malt and floral hop notes. The flavour features balanced caramel sweetness and hop bitterness; the finish is remarkably smooth. Made with organic Goldings hops, and fermented with English Ale yeast.
Osmium is a strong Scottish-style wee heavy (7.0 % ABV); full-bodied and malty, with subtle caramelized sweetness. The aroma is malt dominated with treacle, biscuity and toasty notes. The flavour is rich and chewy sweet. The finish brings just enough hop bitterness into the mix to provide balance. Made with organic Fuggles hops, and fermented with Edinburgh Scottish Ale yeast.
Double Identity D.I.P.A. (Double I.P.A.) is by no means subtle at 85 IBUs (9.0 % ABV). The aroma is intensely citrusy. The flavour is noticeably bitter, but counterbalanced by grapefruit and pine notes. The big finish lingers with redolent hoppiness. Made with a double dose of organic Centennial and Nelson Sauvin hops, with small additions of El Dorado and Chinook.
The winter edition of The Beau’s Mix will be widely available in Ontario beginning mid-November wherever Beau’s is sold. In Québec the three new beers from the pack are also available mid-November, but sold separately. The Beau’s Mix Winter edition will make an appearance in time for the holidays in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and New Brunswick.
