Upper Reaches

We reached the peak on this one! Along with our friends from Surrey, BC’s Central City Brewers + Distillers (home of Red Racer beer), we’ve created Upper Reaches, a pale ale brewed with organic peaches and organic hand-harvested spruce tips. Upper Reaches is seventh in a series of beers Beau’s will brew with friends across the nation to honour Ottawa 2017, a year-long celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday. A portion of proceeds from sales of Upper Reaches will go to the Trans Canada Trail Foundation, which helps develop recreational trails in every province and territory in the country (tctrail.ca).
History & Style:
Sitting at 6.0% alc/vol, Upper Reaches is on the stronger side of the pale ale spectrum. Organic peaches lend juicy fruit notes to Upper Reaches’ aroma and flavour, while organic white spruce tips heighten the experience with resinous and peppery tones. We also joined Central City in Surrey to brew a variation of Upper Reaches as part of their Red Racer Across The Nation Collaboration 12-pack.
Tasting Notes:
Upper Reaches pours clear copper with a white head. The aroma offers big stone fruit notes that are contrasted by sprucey-peppery notes. The flavour imparts juicy peach that is balanced out by tingly resin inflections. The finish is dry and slightly tannic.
Food pairings:
Avocado, feta and spinach greens with toasted pecans and spiced honey vinaigrette; real mac n’ cheese with sharp cheddar; grilled rainbow trout with tangy peach pale ale BBQ sauce; baked yogurt and caramelized peach pudding.
