Citrus & sea salt “Buenos Dias” up next in Beau’s Gruit Series

Beau’s refreshing summer citrus & sea salt gruit “Buenos Dias” is available this week in Ontario and Québec on draft and in bottles, and will soon ship out to the rest of Canada. Certified organic and a sessionable 4.5% ABV, it will be a seasonal offering through the end of August. Buenos Dias will flow on tap in early May in all other provinces Beau’s beer is sold, and bottles will be also available in B.C., Alberta and Manitoba.

Buenos Dias is brewed with organic lime juice, organic orange and lime peel, and a touch of sea salt. A Belgian wit yeast complements the citrus and adds subtle coriander undercurrents. Buenos Dias pours slightly hazy mild yellow with white foam – its zippy lime flavour is accented by a wicking salt edge in the mouthfeel. The finish is quick, clean and dry. Easy to pair with summer dishes, the Beau’s kitchen recommends trying it with scallop ceviche with chili and lime, or seared Albacore tuna with salsa verde.

Gruits take inspiration from centuries-old brewing tradition; a time before the Bavarian Purity Act of 1516 that declared that all beer be made solely with barley, hops, and water. In gruit ale, herbs, spices and other botanicals replace a dominant hop character, throwing open the door to experimentation with flavour and beer terroir. Buenos Dias is designed to be a playful interpretation of the gruit concept, evoking the zip and zest of a classic margarita in each refreshing sip.

In addition to the release details noted above, Buenos Dias can be sampled at and purchased from the Beau’s Brewing Tap Room in Vankleek Hill as of April 13, as well as for home delivery in the City of Ottawa via the BYBO service (www.bybo.ca). A limited amount will also be sold in New York State.
