Tom Green Summer Stout is a sun-kissed golden ale with roasty and rich stout-like flavour. It is brewed with cacao nibs, and infused with organic fairtrade coffee. A hint of sweetness is contributed by the milk sugar in the recipe. Created collaboratively with Canadian actor and comedian Tom Green!
History & Style
A blonde stout (also known as a golden stout) achieves an almost magical juxtaposition of appearance and experience, by infusing a brilliant, clear golden ale with stout-like aromas and flavours of coffee and cacao.
The coffee in this year’s Tom Green Summer Stout is a mix of 50% Guatemala Femenino and 50% Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. Both coffees are certified Fairtrade, Organic, and the Guatemala is additionally certified Smithsonian Bird Friendly®. It was roasted locally at Vankleek Hill’s very own Totem Artisanal Coffee Roasters!
Tasting Notes
Tom Green Summer Stout pours clear golden-blonde with white foam. Coffee and cacao provide their classic aromas to this beer. The mocha flavour notes are supplemented by subtle berry nuances. The finish is mildly sweet and lingering.
Food Pairings
Strawberry, arugula and fennel salad with white balsamic & poppy seed dressing; grilled venison sausage on a crusty bun with red pepper marmalade; mascarpone cheese tiramisu.
