Beau’s + Polaris Music Prize re-release limited-edition Polaris Pale Ale

In step with the excitement of today’s short list announcement for the Polaris Music Prize, Beau’s Brewing Co. is announcing the return of its limited-edition spruce beer, Polaris Pale Ale. The beer, which was first brewed by Beau’s in 2016, honours the artists and albums nominated for the annual prize, and offers a tip of the hat to the uniquely Canadian music award.

Polaris Pale Ale is distinguished by the addition of wild-harvested spruce tips, and organic hops grown locally to the brewery, in nearby Québec. It pours a light orange with a frothy white head. The predominantly woodland aroma of spruce also offers subtle notes of citrusy hops. The flavour is mildly peppery, with zesty echoes of spruce. A medium malt backbone anchors, and the finish is clean and snappy. The 600 mL bottles feature Polaris-inspired artwork from Beau’s award-winning graphic design team.

The Polaris Music Prize is a not-for-profit organization that annually honours and rewards Canadian recording artists who produce albums of distinction. The prize is decided by a jury of music critics based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label. Beau’s Oktoberfest, which features an all-Canadian lineup of musical talent each year, will host two of 2017 Polaris longlist selections this fall – John K. Samson, and the band TUNS.

Polaris Pale Ale will of course be pouring at the Polaris Music Prize gala Sept. 18 in Toronto. In the meantime, craft beer fans can preview it in Toronto and Ottawa at LCBO growler stations, or at select pubs and restaurants in Ontario. It is available today by the bottle and on tap at Beau’s tap room in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, and for home delivery in the City of Ottawa via the BYBO.ca service.
