In episode five we talk to Canadian hip-hop artist and broadcaster Shad about his new album, A Short Story About A War; the HBO Canada and Netflix documentary series, Hip-Hop Evolution, in which he interviews the pioneers of hip-hop; his time as the host of CBC Radio’s Q; his de facto role as Canada’s ambassador to hip-hop culture; and much more.

In our second segment, Eddy Earwigg asks some employee-owners at Beau’s to share their favourite holiday traditions, and puts them on the spot when he asks them to read a Christmas recipe in their best celebrity impression or accent. As is always the case when Eddy’s in the producer’s chair, hilarity ensues.

We also talk to Toronto’s King of Comfort Food, Chef Anthony Rose, the co-author of an exciting new cookbook The Last Schmaltz. We have a copy of The Last Schmaltz to give away! If you’d like to win it, please email patrickj@beaus.ca and tell us Anthony Rose’s favourite condiment as a child. We’ll ship the book out to the fifth listener to contact us.

Lastly, Beau’s is proud to sponsor Community Food Centre’s 2019 edition of Chefs for Change, so we checked in with the folks behind this unique culinary collaboration by top chefs from Toronto and across Canada.  If you like what you hear, brave the cold this January and February for a cozy night out at Propeller Coffee, an outstanding five-course meal, and a way to support programs that change lives in low-income communities through food.
