Tyrannosaurus Gruit

Gruit ale • 5.8% • Wild Oat

Tyrannosaurus Gruit is a red gruit ale made with Québec-grown beets and hibiscus flowers. Organic juniper berries and locally foraged organic white spruce tips add in an enjoyable element of woodsiness and conifer resins.

History & Style

Gruits take inspiration from centuries-old brewing tradition; a time before the Bavarian Purity Act of 1516 that declared that all beer be made solely with barley, hops, and water. In gruit ale, herbs, spices and other botanicals replace a dominant hop character, throwing open the door to experimentation with flavour and beer terroir.

Tasting Notes

Tyrannosaurus Gruit pours brilliantly clear with a red cranberry colour. Aromas of beets and berries give way to subtle spruce. The flavour reflects the presence of beets with resinous, peppery spruce notes. A hint of juniper follows. The finish is bright and crisp.
