Beau’s launches “Farm Table Series” with new LCBO beer release
Inspired by tradition and brewed true to a classic style, Beau’s Farm Table series will serve up sessionable beers six times a year, beginning with a Bavarian beer garden classic

VANKLEEK HILL – (Aug. 5, 2015) A new beer from Beau’s Brewery is coming to LCBOs across Ontario, starting this weekend: a Helles lager is the first official release for the new Farm Table series of beers from Beau’s. The series will serve up sessionable selections six times a year; beers that are inspired by tradition, and each brewed true to a classic style.
Farm Table Helles is a brilliant straw-coloured blond lager and a bona fide Bavarian beer garden classic. The Helles style balances a mildly bready, malt-accented flavour with subtle and delicate hops that linger to enjoy. First brewed in the late 1800s, Helles lager was Munich’s answer to the widespread popularity of the Bohemian pilsner. It shares similarities with a pilsner, but dials back the hops in favour of a slight lean toward more malt flavour and mouthfeel.
The Farm Table series will replace the Beau’s seasonal beer program, which began in 2008. The award-winning seasonal beers will return under the Farm Table flag – Farm Table Märzen (fall seasonal Night Märzen) will follow up the Helles as the next release in the series. Winter seasonal Bog Water gruit will also return, but as part of a new “Gruit Series” Beau’s will kick off in December 2015.
“Because they change up every two months, Farm Table will mean more brand-new beers from Beau’s more often. This makes us happy, because we get to do more of what we do best: innovate, and create new beers to enjoy,” says brewery co-founder Steve Beauchesne. He adds: “The name is also designed to help highlight the distinction between Beau’s sessionable, brewed-to-style offerings (Farm Table), and our experimental, boundary pushing beers in the Wild Oats series. The series are complementary, and let the craft beer drinker choose to drink to his or her taste, or to the occasion.”
Beau’s Farm Table Helles will begin appearing in select LCBO stores this weekend, with wider distribution to follow next week. Like previous releases from the Eastern Ontario craft brewery, Farm Table Helles is packaged in in Beau’s signature 600 ml bottles. Farm Table Helles will be available for home delivery in Ottawa via the BYBO service (www.bybo.ca), and at the Vankleek Hill brewery’s own retail store on Thursday August 6. The beer will also be available for a limited time at craft-beer-friendly restaurants and pubs throughout Ontario.
