Return of the Mumme

Medieval Mumme Ale • 5.8% • Wild Oats Series No. 55

Return of the Mumme is a medieval-era ale with a bouquet of botanicals and spices. Our well-traveled interpretation of the style is brewed with Fair Trade organic black tea from India, Sri Lankan cloves and a blend of Egyptian spices including caraway seed, marjoram and thyme.

History & Style

Mumme is a medieval ale that shares characteristics with a modern altbier. Return of the Mumme was first brewed in 2015 for Beau’s Oktoberfest, where it won “fan’s choice” at the festival and a place in the 2016 Mix Pack.

Tasting Notes

Pours a dark orange with a frothy tan head. Initial aromas of gingerbread and malt, and black licorice rise up from a subtle traditional hop aroma. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly creamy, leaving a residual sweetness to balance the spices and the hops.
