Beau’s + k-os collaboration beer “Golden Vox” returns

Following up on its win for Best Collaborative Beer at Session Craft Beer Festival 2015, Beau’s Brewery is re-launching “Golden Vox” Rye Pale Lagered Ale this week in Ontario and Québec

(OTTAWA – Apr. 15, 2016) Beau’s Brewery is widely releasing this week an award-winning collaborative beer called Golden Vox. A pilot batch of this beer was conceived and brewed with Canadian hip hop artist k-os in 2015 for the Session Toronto Craft Beer Festival, where it took home the “Collaboration Nation” prize for best collaborative beer. The prize was a listing for the winning beer in Ontario LCBO stores.

The name Golden Vox is a nod to k-os’ notable music career to-date – and the beer is an imaginative fusion of styles, a rye pale lagered ale. The recipe for this pale-golden beer is a blend of organic rye and barley malts. The hybrid style blends the citrusy hop character of an American Pale Ale with the spicy elements of rye malt, and adds the signature crisp finish of a lagered ale. Aging on rye-whiskey-soaked oak adds a kiss of subtle complexity to this balanced, 6% ABV beer.

k-os travelled to the Vankleek-Hill-based brewery in May 2015 to help the Beau’s brew team create the first limited-edition batch of Golden Vox, and is excited to see his vision for a craft beer gain a wider audience. “The good people at Beau’s in Vankleek Hill take pride in their product, in the same ways I like to produce my music – that’s a match made in heaven,” k-os says about the project. “As a musician, having my own beer is a dream come true!”

Golden Vox will be available in Ontario LCBO stores, and will also be made available in the next few weeks through select Ontario grocery outlets that carry craft beer. Craft-friendly Québec-based grocery and corner stores will also stock it for the same time frame. It will be sold in Beau’s signature 600 ml bottles. Golden Vox can also be purchased from the Beau’s Brewery retail store, or for home delivery in the City of Ottawa via the BYBO service (www.bybo.ca).
