Award-winning altbier “Festivale” from Beau’s returns for 2015

Festivale bucks the trend of pale summer beers, offering up balanced high-intensity maltiness and subtle caramel sweetness in a refreshing, amber-hued aleFestivale

OTTAWA – (May 19, 2015) Fans of the balanced, German-style ales Beau’s All Natural is known for brewing will be pleased to note the return this week of their summer seasonal altbier, Festivale. This is the eighth summer Beau’s has produced the amber-hued 4.7% ale, which won Gold at Mondial de la Bière in Strasbourg, France in 2009, and Bronze at the 2012 Canadian Beer Awards.

Festivale was first brewed for the Ottawa Jazz Festival in 2008, and is something of a cousin to Beau’s flagship beer, Lug Tread. While both beers are lagered ales, Festivale offers up high-intensity, balanced maltiness and more hop presence than Lug Tread. Festivale is based on a rare German style of ale, known as alt, which originates from the northern part of the Rhineland. Caramunich malts give Festivale its colour and a subtle caramel sweetness.

Festivale will be served up alongside Lug Tread this year at the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival in June (www.ottawajazzfestival.com), where Beau’s will be the Official Beer Sponsor. A third beer, an American brown ale called After Dark, will also be part of the selections on offer for this two-week-long music festival in the nation’s capital.

Festivale will be sold in Beau’s signature 600 mL bottles for a retail price of $4.55. It can be purchased beginning May 21 at LCBOs across the province of Ontario – check www.lcbo.com for product availability. It can also be purchased at the brewery’s retail store in Vankleek Hill, and in Ottawa through home-delivery service BYBO (www.bybo.ca). Select restaurants and pubs will also have the beer available on draft throughout the summer.
