“Blood Simple” brings a citrusy taste of sunshine to Beau’s feBREWary

Beau’s Brewing Co.’s month-long feBREWary event is in full swing this week with the fourth weekly release, a cacao and blood orange witbier called Blood Simple. A chocolate-orange riff on the citrus-and-spice character of a Belgian-style wheat beer, this 5.3% witbier brings a citrusy taste of sunshine to some of winter’s coldest days.

Blood Simple is brewed with organic blood orange juice, organic orange peel, and organic cacao, recreating the classic flavour combination of chocolate and orange in this hazy wheat beer. Blood Simple brings aromas of orange citrus and cacao, with flavour marked by spritzy, juicy orange. The body is light and lively, and cacao asserts itself nicely in the finish.

“Chocolate and orange are such a classic flavour combination,” says Beau’s co-founder Steve Beauchesne, “and adding them to a zesty witbier makes for a unique, fun experience.”

Blood Simple will be tapped this week across Ontario and Québec as part of Beau’s 6th annual feBREWary, a winter craft beer celebration. Like previous feBREWary releases, this beer is also available by the bottle at approximately 75 Québec retailers and in the tap room at Beau’s Vankleek Hill, Ont. brewery. More information about feBREWary, including a full list of participating bars and restaurants, is online at beaus.ca/feBREWary.

Beau’s feBREWary 2017 wraps up next week with the release of Tyrannosaurus Gruit, a red ale made with Québec-grown beets and hibiscus flowers, organic juniper berries and locally foraged organic white spruce tips.
